Three times the sum of a number and four is equal to five times the number decreased by two. If x represents the number which equation is a correct translation the statement?

A: 3 (x+4) = 5x-2

B: 3 (x+4) = 5 (x-2)

    I think the answer is A because you have to multiply the number 5 times and take off 2 at the end of the equation ... so yeah i think A

    The equation would be 3 (x+4) = 5x-2

    so if we solve we get3x+12=5x-212=2x-210=2x5=x
