The following recipe makes 2 dozen chocolate chip cookies

1/2 cup of butter

3/4 cup sugar

1 large egg

1 1/4 cup flour

1 cup chocolate chips

1 tsp vanilla extract

If you want to make 12 cookies how much sugar would you need? Justify your answer.

    If you want to make 12 cookies (one dozen), you would use 3/8 cup of sugar because the original recipe requires twice that amount of sugar and also makes twice that amount of cookies.
