Write an expression for the sales tax on a car.

Tax rate is 7%, price is $6000 off the sticker price, $p.

    Let us say that:

    p = price of the car

    t = sales tax of the car

    r = tax rate in decimal form = 0.07

    Therefore the equation relating the two is:

    t = r p

    t = 0.07 p

    t = 0.07 * $6,000
