If 3/4 of a gallon of paint covers 2/5 of a wall, then how many gallons are needed to paint the entire wall?

    (3/4) / (2/5) = x / 1

    cross multiply

    2/5x = 3/4

    x = 3/4 * 5/2

    x = 15/8 = 1 7/8 gallons are needed
