Joseph is planting a vegetable garden. He plants 2 tomato plants for every 5 pepper plants. If Joseph planets 14 tomato plants, how many pepper planets does he plant?

    Ratio of tomato plant to that of pepper plant = 2:5

    Let x be the number of pepper plants for 14 tomato plants.

    Now, according to the question,

    2:5 = 14:x

    14*5 = 2x

    x = 70/2 = 35 plants.
