A farmer needs to mix 8 ounces of fertilizer for every 10 pounds of soil. How many pounds of fertilizer will the farmer need to make a mix that contains 80 pounds of soil? (Remember - 16 ounces = 1 pound)

    1 pound of fertilizer will do 20 pounds of soils (8 x2 = 16 ounces = 1 pound)

    80 pounds of soil / 20 pounds of soil = 4 pounds of fertilizer
