Which type of function is the result of adding a quadratic function and a linear function?

    Explanation:

    Let f (x) = a x2 + bx+c (with a≠0),

    and let g (x) = dx + e.

    Then (f+g) (x) = a x2 + (b+d) x + (c+e).

    Since a≠0, this is quadratic every time.
