    Label your coordinates first. (5,-3) 5 is x1 and - 3 is y1. (8,-5) 8 is x2 and - 5 is y2.

    Take y2-y1 divided by x2-x1

    -5 - - 3 / 8-5

    -5 - - 3 is - 2 and 8-5 is 3

So your slope would be - 2/3
