    length = 53.22

    width = 17.74

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Assuming the tank is a rectangular prism, then the formula for its volume will be:

    volume = height * length * width

    v = h * l * w

    The length is equal to 3 times width, to put into the equation it will be:

    l = 3w

    We know that volume is 315 cubic feet and height is 3 feet, if you substitute all value into the equation we can find out the width.

    v = h * l * w

    315 = 3 * l * w

    945 = 3w * w

    3w^2 = 945

    w^2 = 315

    w = 17.74

    Then we can find out length

    l = 3 * w

    l = 3 * 17.74 = 53.22
