    5x/2 = 5x + 6 ... multiply the equation by 2, eliminating the 2 on the left side

    5x = 2 (5x + 6)

    5x = 10x + 12

    5x - 10x = 12

    -5x = 12

    x = - 12/5 or - 2 2/5
