When multiplying or dividing with negative and positive numbers, if the signs are the same, the result is positive ... when the signs are different, the result is negative.

so a positive divided by a negative results in a negative ... because the signs are different.

but if it was a negative divided by a negative or a positive divided by a positive the result would be positive because the signs are the same.
