A rectangle has a perimeter of 24 units. The length of the rectangle is 2 times 3 less than the width. What is the width of the rectangle?

    2x + 2y = 24

    y = (2x-3)

    2x + 2 (2x-3) = 24

    2x + 4x - 6 = 24

    6x = 30

    x = 5

    y = 7

    so the width should = 5

    (and the length = 7)
