    For this case, the first thing we must do is define variables:

    p: number of pretzels

    d: number of drinks

    We now write the system of equations:

    2.25p + 1.50d = 463.50

    p + d = 257

    Solving the system we have:

    d = 153

    p = 104

    Answer:

    104 pretzels

    153 drinks
