What must the slope of a line be if it is parallel to the line 8y+12x=-6

    Hello,

    We know that patallel lines have the same slope, so we have to find the slope of that line and that is the answer:

    The general formula of the line is: y=mx+b

    where: m = slope

    For example, in the line: y=2x+3, the slope is: m=2

    So you have to put the equation in that form, and you'll have the answer there in front of you. I'm going to give you two options, so you can check your work:

    Answer: m=-3/2 or m=-4/3

    Rearrange the equation into y=mx+b form so it is y=-3/2x-3/4. parallel lines have the same slope so the slope of the line that is parallel to 8y+12x=-6 is - 3/2!
