On a map, the length of the road from town A to B is 12 inches. On this map, ¾ inch represents 8 miles. What is the actual distance from town A to B in miles?

    You can get this by setting up a proportion.

    .75/8 = 12/x

    Then cross multiply

    12*8 =.75 x

    96 =.75x

    128 = x
