    S can be the time on soccer, V can be volleyball.

    S+V=10, similarly, S=2V+1, so we can sub 2V+1 into the first equation where we see S,

    (2V+1) + V=10

    3V+1=10

    3V=9

    V=3, so 3 hours on volleyball. Then, we can sub that in to one of our other equations, S+3=10, so S=7.
