Danielle says these shapes are rectangles because they are both tall shapes with 4 straight sides and 4 vertices. do you agree? why or why not? what other shapes have 4 straight sides and vertices?

    She is may be correct if the shapes also have 4 right angles at each of the 4 vertices (corners).

    Here are examples of some other shapes that may be described by what she said:

    quadrilateral - any 4 sided figure with 4 vertices

    trapezoid - a 4 sided figure (with 4 vertices) with exactly one set of parallel sides

    parallelogram - a 4 sided figure (with 4 vertices) with 2 sets of opposite sides that are parallel

    rhombus - a 4 sided figure (with 4 vertices) with 2 sets of opposite sides that are parallel AND 4 congruent sides
