    length = 4 feet and width = 2 feet

    let w represent the width then length = 2w (2 times the width)

    Area = length * width = w * 2w = 8, thus

    2w² = 8

    divide both sides by 2

    w² = 4

    take the square root of both sides

    w = √4 = 2

    width = 2 feet and length = 2 * 2 = 4 feet
