The probability that an incoming message contains the word "exciting"is spam can be found from the following two numbers (facts):

    1. The number of spam messages.

    2. The number of messages containing the word "exciting" that are spam.

probability = (number of desired event) / total number of events

    = 40 / 500 = 0.08
