"Common" means "same for both of them" or "same for all of them".

You'll see this word in many different places.

In math, you'll meet "common factors" and "common denominators".

'Common denominators' means there are 2 fractions or more,

and they all have the same denominator (the bottom number).

You'll learn that if you want to add or subtract fractions, then they

need to have the same denominator.

And you'll learn how to change the denominator of a fraction

without changing its value (the amount that it is). Then you'll

know how to add or subtract ANY fractions, because you'll be

able to change some denominators to make them all the same.
