Two cars leave towns 570 kilometers apart at the same time and travel toward each other. One cars rate is 12 kilometers per hour less than the others. If they meet in 3 hours, what is the rate of the slower car? Do not do any rounding

    1st car = 3x

    2nd car = 3 (x-12)

    3x + 3 (x-12) = 570

    3x + 3x-36 = 570

    6x = 570 + 36

    6x = 606

    x = 606/6 = 101

    101-12 = 89

    fast car = 101 km per hour

    slower car = 89 km per hour
