If you were to walk around the perimeter of a particular building, you would cover 2498 ft. if this rectangular building is 173 ft longer than it is wide, what are its dimensions?

    l=w+173

    w

    p=l+l+w+w

    2498=w+173+w+173+w+w

    solve

    2498=4w+346

    -346 both sides

    2152=4w

    :4 both sides

    w=538

    find l

    l=538+173

    l=711

    width=538ft

    length=711ft
