Linda ate 1/8 of a batch of cornbread. Peter ate some cornbread so that there is 2/3 of the batch remaining. What fraction of the batch did peter eat?

    ok first you need to figure out how much was NOT consumed by peter so linda ate 1/8 of the cornbread and peter LEFT 2/3 of the batch remaining. so what i did was,

    first match the bottom numbers so i took 3*8 = 24 then you take the amount added to each bottom number of the fraction so 8 was multiplied by 3 so the 1/8 would turn into 3/24 and the 3 was multiplied by 8 so the 2/3 would turn into 16/24 if you add that together you would get 19/24 then subtract 19 from 24 = 5 so you end up with 5/24 and because you can't simplify it the answer is 5/24
