A merchant has coffee worth $20.00 per pound that she wishes to mix with 70 pounds of coffee with $90.00 per pound to get a mixture that she will sell for $30.00 per pound. How many pounds (lbs) of the $20.00 coffee should be used?

    20x-1000 + 4000 = 60x

    20x-60x = - 4000 + 1000

    -40x = - 3000

    x = - 3000/-40

    75 The mix will be 75 lbs

    And $20 coffee will be 75 - 50 = 25lbs
