    The area of the new square=324 in²

    Step-by-step explanation:

    The area of a square can be expressed as;

    A=L*L

    where;

    A=area of the square

    And since the sides of a square are equal, they can be expressed as;

    L=length of one side

    L=length of the other side

    In our case;

    L=unknown

    A=81 in²

    replacing;

    81=L²

    √L²=√81

    L=9

    Multiply side length by 2

    9*2=18 inches

    The new area can be expressed as;

    A=18²=324 in²

    The area of the new square=324 in²
