The population of Jalicia City was 24,000 people

in 2010 and was increasing at a rate of 4% per

year. What would the prediction be for the

population in 2013?

    When using a calculator I got: 26996.736

    However since it's people you should round to: 26997.

    It might be a little tedious, but i think the easiest to understand is this way

    first find what 4% of 24000 is. you can do this by simply multiplying 24000 by. 04 which is 960. the new population for 2011 is 24960, and you again find what 4% of it is. Which is 998 people. In 2012, there will be 25958 people. Find 4% of that which is 1038 people. add it to 25958 & you get 26996 which is the estimate for how many people there will be in 2013. Not the easiest way, but i don't remember exactly how to do these problems, but this also works
