    x=36; y=8.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    x=length

    y=width

    the length of a rectangle is 2cm more than four times the width.

    so,

    x=2+4y ... (1)

    now,

    the perimeter of the rectangle is 84 cm

    so,

    2 (x+y) = 84

    x+y=42 ... (2)

    2+4y+y=42

    5y=40

    y=8 ... (3)

    so,

    x=42-8 [from 2 & 3]

    x=36

    w=8 L = 34

    Step-by-step explanation:

    P=2W+2L

    L=4W+2

    2W + 2 (4W+2) = 84

    2W + 8W + 4 = 84

    10W=80

    w=8

    L = (8*4+2) = 34

    2 (8) + 2 (34) = 16 + 68 = 84
