(2^2) (x) 3 = 16
Step 1: Multiply both sides by 3.
(2^2) (x) 3 = 16
((2^2) (x) / 3) * (3) = (16) * (3) (22) (x) = 48
Step 2: Simplify both sides of the equation.
4x = 48
Step 3: Divide both sides by 4.
4/x 4 = 48/4
x = 12
