Subtract 10 from both sides.

-x2+x+52-10=10-10

-x2+x+42=0

Factor left side of equation.

(-x-6) (x-7) = 0

Set factors equal to 0.

-x-6=0 or x-7=0

52 + x = 10 + x^2

52 = x^2 - x + 10

x^2 - x - 42 = 0

x^2 - 7x + 6x - 42 = 0

x (x-7) + 6 (x-7) = 0

(x-7) (x+6) = 0
