    Answer: Jack rented 10 DVDs.

    Paloma rented 5 DVDs.

    Grace rented 1 Dvd

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let x represent the number of DVD's that Jack rented.

    Let y represent the number of DVD's that Paloma rented.

    Let z represent the number of DVD's that Grace rented.

    Jack rented 2 times as many DVD's as Paloma last month. This means that

    x = 2y

    Paloma rented 4 more than grace. This means that

    z = y - 4

    Paloma rented 4 fewer than Greg. If

    Greg rented 9 DVD's, it means that

    y = 9 - 4 = 5

    x = 2y = 2 * 5

    x = 10

    z = y - 4 = 5 - 4

    z = 1
