Divide 72 by the number of cigarette butts it takes to make one whole cigarette.

72 / 6 = 12

Now we have 12 whole cigarettes, which gives us 12 more cigarette butts, which gives us 12 / 6 = 2 more whole cigarettes.

So he can make 14 cigarettes.
