The present age of father and son is 7:2. after 5 yrs the age of son is 37% the age of his father. what is the present age of father

    Let present ages of father be x and of son is y years

    x/y = 7/2, 2x=7y, y=2x/7

    (y+5) = 37/100 * (x+5)

    (2x/7+5) = 37/100 * (x+5)

    (2x+35) / 7 = (37x+185) / 100

    200x+3500=259x+1295

    259x-250x=3500-1295

    59x=2205

    x=37.37 years
