A rectangular field is 130 meters long and 80 meters wide.

Give the length and width of another rectangular field that has the same perimeter but a smaller area.

    So, the perimeter of the big rectangle {we’ll call this big rectangle "x"} is 130 (2) + 80 (2) = 420 meters, and the area is 130 (80) = 10,400 meters squared.

    Now for the rectangle with the same perimeter but small area {we’ll call this one "y"}, we can say the length is 170 meters and that the width is 40 meters {the perimeter for y is 170 (2) + 40 (2) = 420 meters}.

    So the area for y will be 170 (40) = 6,800 meters squared.

    Therefore your answer is that the length will be 170 meters and the width is 40 meters.
