The number of red tiles in a sack is 5 more than 3 times the number of green tiles in the sack. The sack contains 53 red tiles. How many green tiles does the sack contain? Show all work.

    "g" represents green tiles.

    53 = 3g + 5

    48 = 3g

    16 = g

    There are 16 green tiles in the sack.
