The length of a rectangle is twice its width. The perimeter is 60 ft. Find its area.

    Declare variables we will use:

    Let 'x' be the length of width

    Create equation using information we have:

    Width's length is equal to 2x because a rectangle has two width

    Length's length is equal to 4x because we know that the length of the rectangle is twice its width. So that is 2x. Since there is two length of a rectangle, its 2x * 2 = 4x.

    The equation is 4x + 2x = 60 feet

    6x = 60

    Find the x to find perimeter and area:

    6x = 60 Divide both side by 6

    x = 10

    Width = 10 feet

    Perimeter = 2x = 2 (10) = 20 feet

    Area = 10 * 20 = 200 feet²

    Therefore, the answer is 200 feet².
