Could a number ever be both rational and irrational

    By definition an irrational number is one that is not rational. Therefore, it is not possible for a number to both rational and irrational.

    No. Irrational numbers are things like pi and numbers that don't end. ex. 3.14159 ... or 2.368964 ...
