A correlation coefficient of 0.02 indicates that the data are not correlated.

    Explanation:

The correlation coefficient is a number between - 1 and 1, inclusive, which measures how good is the association of a collection of data and whether it is a positive correlation or a negative one.

Naming r the value of the correlation coefficient you can say:

    | r | ≤ 1

If r = 1, the correlation is perfect and positive, meaning that the data are linearly correlated and when one variable increases the other also increase. if r = - 1, the correlation is perfect and negative, meaning that the data are linearly correlated and when one variable increases the other decreases. A correlation coefficient close to zero means that the variables are not correlated at all.

In general, you can tell that a correlation greater than 0.8 is generally described as strong, and a correlation less than 0.5 is generally described as weak.

0.02 is very cloes to zero and tells that there is no linear relationship between the two variables.
