The following equation contains parentheses. Apply the distributive property to remove the parentheses, then simplify each side before using the addition property of equality.

-3 (x - 4) + 4x = 3 - 6

    -3 (x-4) + 4x=3-6

    -3x+12+4x=-3

    x=-15

    Well to make it simple you have - 3x + 12 + 4x = - 3 Right? So next you just simplify to get x = - 15
