If the sum of - 4 and the opposite of a number is multiplied by - 3, the result is 6 less than the product of the number and 2. What is the number?

    -3 (-4 + - x) = (-4 (x) * 2) + 6

    -3 (-4-x) = (-4x * 2) + 6

    -12 + 3x = - 8x + 6

    3x - 12 = 6 - 8x

    add 8x on both sides

    11x - 12 = 6

    add 12 on both sides

    11x = 18

    x = 11/18
