One third equals two sixths. 2/6 and 1/6 = 3/6=1/2.

    One-half

to get this you first need to find a common denominator (bottom number) you can do this by multiplying three by two so both denominators are six but you must also multiply one by two so it is then two-sixths then you can add two-sixths and one-sixth to get three-sixths which can be simplified to one-half
