Five pounds of body fat is equivalent to 16000 calories. Carol can burn 600 calories per hour bicycling and 400 calories per swimming. How many calories will carol burn in x hours of cycling? How many calories will she burn in y hours of swimming?

    Rates have units as in calories per hour that cancel out. When you multiply these by the dividing units.

    Calories burned Cycling = 600x

    Calories burned Swimming = 400y
