    Actually the coefficient of determination is simply equivalent to the square of the value of the correlation between any two variables, that is:

    coefficient of determination = (correlation) ^2

    Therefore calculating for the coefficient of determination:

    coefficient of determination = (0.496) ^2 = 0.246
