If we assume there is a total of 100 total seats then we can make up a fraction of 85/100. Now that we have the fraction to convert the fraction into the decimal you have to divide 85 by 100 which is 85, to find an easier way if the denominator is 100 the numerator would be the decimal number. Then subtract 100-85 which equals 15. So 15% of the seats are empty.
