Misty and yesenia have a group of base ten blocks. Misty had six more blocks than Yesenia. Yesenias blocks represent 17. Together they have 22 blocks, and the total number of blocks represent 85. What blocks could each girl have? What is the value?

    Ok, so the only possible/reasonable answer is:

    Yesenia has 1 base ten block and 7 cubic inches blocks.

    (8 blocks in total)

    (total units: 17)

    while, Misty has 6 base ten blocks and 8 cubic blocks.

    (14 blocks in total)

    (total units: 68)

    68+17=85 (85 is the total number of units, with Misty and Yesenia added together, as said in the word problem)

    14-8=6 (6 is the total number of blocks Misty has more the Yesenia, as said in the word problem)

    14+8=22 (22 is the total number of blocks Misty and Yesenia have altogether)
