Tammy is inspecting a 5 m : 10 cm scale floor plan for her house. The dimensions of her bedroom in the scale drawing shown below are 6 cm by 5 cm. Calculate the area of Tammy's bedroom in the real world. Answer will be in square meters.

    6 cm represents x meters

    cross multiply

    10x = 5*6

    10x = 30

    x = 3 meters so 6cm is equal to 3 meters in length

    10 cm represents 5 meters in the real world.

    5 cm = y meters

    10y = 5*5

    10y = 25 m

    y = 25/10 meters = 2.5 meters

    Area of the room = 2.5 * 3 = 7.5 square meters
