    Because that number has a absolute value. Absolute value of an answer is always positive, its a rule of mathematics to show the value of a number without looking at its sign.

    Absolute value is how far away a number is to another number it's like walking distance, no matter which direction you go it's not - 3 miles from the orgin it's 3 (so it can't be negative)
