Using the correct number of significant figures, calculate the perimeter and volume of a small, rectangular mirror that is 2.950 in long, 1.844 in wide, and 0.084 in thick. Make sure to calculate the the perimeter of the front of the mirror, and not the side. Dimensions are given in inches but the final answer should be in centimeters. Recall that 1 in = 2.54 cm exactly.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Length, l = 2.950 in

    width, w = 1.844 in

    thickness, t = 0.084 in

    Perimeter of mirror, P = 2 (l + w)

    P = 2 (2.950 + 1.844)

    P = 9.588 in

    1 in = 2.54 cm

    so, P = 9.588 x 2.54

    P = 24.4 cm

    Volume of the mirror, V = l x w x t

    V = 2.950 x 1.844 x 0.084

    V = 0.457 in³

    V = 0.457 x 2.54 x 2.54 x 2.54 cm³

    V = 7.49 cm³
