    For this, we will make an equation. The bat costs 1 dollar more than the ball. We will use x as the value of ball. The equation will be x + (x + 1) = 1.10

    x + x + 1 = 1.10

    2x + 1 = 1.10

    - 1 ___ - 1

    2x =.10

    :2 : 2

    x =.05

    The ball cost. 05 and the bat cost 1.05

    So a bat and a ball together cost $1.10, and the bat cost $1.00 more than the ball to you are going to take $1.00 from $1.10 and that is going to leave you with a remainder of $0.10 left for the ball so the ball cost you $0.10.
