    If it takes c minutes to travel from library to mall, and 1/8 to cycle the same distance walking.

    So, if the cycle takes x minutes, then the walking takes:

    cycle = (1/8) w

    x = (1/8) w

    w = 8x

    hence walking takes 8 times the time used by cycling.
