Elsie pays $8.99 for a one-pound canister of Georgia pecans. Write and solve a proportion to determine the cost of 4 ounces of the pecans she needs for a particular recipe. (Round answer to the nearest cent.)

Keep in mind that 1 pound = 16 ounces

    Because one pound equals 16 oz., you will divide 16 by 4 to get 4. You will then divide 8.99 by 4 because that is the ratio you are breaking it down to. 8.99/4=2.2475 or 2.25
